How ADHD Affects School Performance
ADHD is a chronic disorder that affects attention and behaviour; as such, many children with ADHD are at risk for academic underachievement or failure.
Problems with learning
In many children with ADHD, learning problems and ADHD can co-exist: in fact, up to 70% of children with ADHD also have learning disabilities.
A learning disability is more than simply not being able to get school work done: Experts determine that someone has a learning disability when their achievement in school is lower than what would be expected for their abilities and level of intelligence.
When comparing children with and without ADHD, those with ADHD were found to perform worse on some educational outcomes measured.
