Paul Orfalea, Founder of Kinko's Copies
Paul Orfalea, the founder of Kinko's Copies, had learning disabilities and
ADHD as a child. He did not outgrow them. As an adult who could barely read and
write, Paul created a "workaround" to run his company:
Managers have to communicate with their employees. Most managers use written
memos or e-mail. Instead, Paul used a high-tech voice mail system to send
messages to employees, speaking to them instead of writing them.
In the story of his life, Paul credits his family for giving him a strong
foundation of believing in him and teaching him life skills.
Without his family and friends to support and teach him, Paul's story could
have been very different.
